Bought for my daughter to replace a vintage one that shattered. It looked very much like it & she was very pleased.
I got this for my wife and I'm quite happy with it. The jade stone is small but well-cut. It arrived well packed and not broken or cracked. The sterling silver part is very nice. It's sturdy as well. It's not overly ornate, I like the subtlety of the design. really nice necklace and makes for a good gift!
This is a nice quality pendant. The rich green color looks great anywhere. It's the perfect size for a kid or adult. It makes the perfect gift.
This is a nice cross, the color is vibrant. The quality see.s to be pretty good. The chain is very dainty. I put the cross on another more secure chain. I usually put a quarter next to my item when taking the pics of it but I can tl you it's about that size. I've been wearing it since the day I got it. Ne
I'm giving this necklace 4 stars because while it matches the product description, it has a metal stick inside it that detracts from its appearance. The metal stick is quite visible to me whenever I see it, but it was not that clear from the product pictures. Aside from that, it's a pretty necklace and I like it.Some of the other reviews claimed that this jade cross is not real jade, so the first thing I wanted to do was assess what it is myself. Please note, I am not a jade expert, my assessment is based on my research and observations. The product description says that it is "dyed jade", which is jade that has been artificially treated to enhance its color (so it is probably "type C").My conclusion: The product description appears to be accurate, and it does seem to be dyed jade. When I hold it up to the light, it appears blotchy with darker and lighter shades of green (this can be an effect of the jade itself and the dying process). There is a dark metal stick inside of the cross is odd, but I assume is there for structural reasons. You can see it looking straight at it and at different angles. When rotating it around looking at it in different kinds of light, I noticed one odd spot where I could more clearly see the dark metal stick inside of it. The uneven coloring can happen with the dying process, but even if that spot wasn't there, I don't like seeing the dark stick in there at all. Now, with that out of the way, let's talk about the good points:- It's pretty and I get compliments on it.- The imperfections aren't that noticeable unless you are examining it and looking for them.- The overall quality of the necklace is decent and expected given what it is and the product description.- If handled with care, it can last for many years. While I'm overall pretty happy with it, I'm disappointed in the imperfections (seeing the dark metal inside it) and the durability of dyed jade. Dyed jade is fragile, which it means I can't wear it every day as I would like to - but that is typical of dyed jade being what it is.Here are the key things to know about dyed jade:- It is worth less than natural jade.- It can change permanently color when exposed to household or ultrasonic cleaners.- It can fade over time if exposed to direct sunlight or heat.- Wearing it regularly can cause the dye to wear off over time due to exposure to sweat, oils, and other chemicals.- Don't wear it while swimming, showering, or doing other activities that could expose it to water or chemicals.- Store it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and heat sources.- Clean it regularly with a soft cloth and warm soapy water.- It can last for years if well cared for.Had I not researched how to care for dyed jade, I would have likely damaged it from regular wear and unknowingly exposing it light, heat, chemicals, and other things. And this would have led to a more negative review of the product - but that would stem from my own failure to properly care for the product and not the product itself. This necklace should come with a set of care and cleaning instructions to avoid damaging the product.Do I recommend this product? Yes, as long as you are aware of how to properly care for it and don't mind seeing the metal stick inside it.
